Who can take part
- You have symptomatic atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat with noticeable symptoms) that didn't improve with medication
- Your heart's left upper chamber is not too enlarged (less than 5.5 cm across) and doesn't have too much fluid in it
- You've never had surgery or ablation (heat/cold treatment) on your heart for rhythm problems before
- You don't have certain heart devices like pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, or devices to close heart holes
- Your heart pumps well enough (ejection fraction at least 40%) and you're not in advanced heart failure
- You're willing to take blood thinners around the procedure and return for follow-up visits
