Who can take part
- You have gastrointestinal cancer (stomach, pancreas, colon, or similar) confirmed by biopsy
- Your spleen is enlarged (≥275 mL on imaging) and your platelet count is low (≤80,000/mm³) on two blood tests at least 7 days apart
- Your low platelets are caused specifically by chemotherapy affecting your spleen, not by bone marrow damage or other causes
- Your blood clotting tests are normal or correctable (not a permanent bleeding disorder)
- You have not had prior spleen surgery or embolization (a procedure to block blood vessels)
- You are willing to use effective birth control for 3 months after the procedure if you can have children
