BPAP breathing support for severe asthma attacks in children

Who can take part

  • You are between 5 and 17 years old
  • You came to the ER with a moderate-to-severe asthma attack (assessed by doctors on arrival)
  • You have not used BPAP or similar breathing machines in the last 12 hours
  • You have received standard asthma treatments (inhalers and steroids) before being asked to join the study
  • You weigh at least 20 kg (about 44 pounds)
  • You do not have facial injuries, severe vomiting, low blood pressure, or other conditions that make BPAP unsafe
