- You are scheduled for surgery to remove both lobes (sides) of your thyroid gland
- You can understand and agree to participate in the study
- You do not have a parathyroid adenoma (benign growth) requiring surgery at the same time
- You do not have a condition called hyperparathyroidism being treated during your thyroid surgery
