GM1 Ganglioside Injection for Parkinson's Motor Fluctuations

This study tests whether an injection of a naturally occurring nerve-protective substance called GM1 ganglioside can reduce motor fluctuations (sudden off-periods and unpredictable movement changes) in people with Parkinson's disease who take levodopa. The goal is to help smooth out medication effectiveness throughout the day.

Who can take part

  • Age 30 or older at screening
  • Confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (not Parkinson-plus variants)
  • Currently taking levodopa at a stable dose of at least 400 mg per day for at least 4 weeks, and experiencing motor fluctuations (wearing off or on-off periods)
  • Moderate to advanced Parkinson's stage (Hoehn-Yahr stage 2 or higher when medication wears off)
  • No dementia or severe cognitive impairment
  • No history of other neurological diseases, autoimmune diseases, or demyelinating diseases
