  • Age 25–60 years old
  • Body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher (classified as obesity)
  • No serious heart problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or unstable chest pain
  • No chronic lung disease or current smoking
  • No major leg injury or surgery in the past 6 months
  • Not currently in a weight-loss program or taking weight-loss medications
