- You are at least 18 years old
- You speak German or French fluently
- You are expected to stay in the hospital ICU for at least 2 days

- You have either: new septic shock (diagnosed within 24 hours) with blood pressure requiring medication and elevated lactate, OR you are critically ill on a breathing machine without sepsis
