Who can take part

  • Age 18 or older and receiving care at Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University between March and May 2026
  • Diagnosed with ischemic stroke (blood clot blocking brain blood flow) or Alzheimer's disease by standard clinical criteria
  • Already having a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) done for your medical care, not just for research
  • Extra cerebrospinal fluid remaining after your clinical tests are complete
  • Able to sign consent forms or have a legal representative sign for you
  • For stroke patients: baseline neurological assessment and planned 90-day follow-up visit
