Who can take part
- Had a stroke (blood clot or bleeding in the brain) very recently—within the last 7 days
- Age 18 or older
- Your stroke affected your arm or hand movement on one side of your body
- Plan to continue intensive rehabilitation at your assigned rehabilitation center after hospital discharge
- Able to understand instructions and consent to the study
- No previous arm or hand disability before this stroke, no dementia, and no serious life-limiting illness
