Who can take part

  • You have atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) that comes and goes or is ongoing
  • Your doctor has recommended catheter ablation (a procedure to treat the irregular heartbeat)
  • You are 18 years or older
  • You can have a special ultrasound test of your brain (transcranial Doppler)
  • You have not had a recent stroke or mini-stroke
  • You can take blood thinners without problems
