Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have not had any previous heart ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation.
- You have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation that is either paroxysmal (comes and goes) or persistent (lasts longer than a week).
- If you have paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, you must have had at least two episodes in the past six months and meet at least one of these: a CHA2DS2VA score of 2 or more, at least one cardioversion (a procedure to reset your heart rhythm) in the last six months, or a left atrium size of at least 45 mm.
- If your atrial fibrillation is persistent, you must have had at least one episode in the last six months.
- Your atrial fibrillation is not caused by a reversible condition (like thyroid problems) or something outside the heart.
