Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 40 years old and in generally good health
  • You have a back tooth (not front) with deep decay that's close to the nerve
  • The tooth causes spontaneous pain or sharp pain when exposed to cold that lasts seconds to hours
  • The tooth shows signs of a live (vital) nerve—no severe tenderness when tapped, no loose feeling, no bump or drainage
  • X-rays show no signs of infection, bone loss, or nerve death near the tooth root
  • The tooth can be restored (filled or crowned) after treatment
