Part of Mouth & dental clinical trials.

This study uses artificial intelligence to analyze dental X-rays and predict how difficult a second root canal treatment will be. If successful, it could help dentists plan better treatment and set expectations for patients.

  • X-rays must be of back teeth (molars) in the upper or lower jaw
  • X-rays must be clear and high quality—sharp, good contrast, and minimal blur
  • X-rays must clearly show the tooth, surrounding bone, and any previous filling material
  • The tooth must need a second (retreatment) root canal procedure
  • The tooth must have had a previous root canal treatment
  • Not a baby tooth, and the tooth must be restorable (able to be saved)

NCT07684482Not yet recruiting
AI tool for checking root canal fill quality on x-rays

This study tests a deep learning (AI) program to see if it can accurately evaluate how well a root canal filling looks on dental x-rays. It may help dentists get a quick, consistent read on whether the treatment was successful.

NCT07056998Enrolling by invitation
AI detects root canal quality, then retreats if needed

This trial tests whether artificial intelligence can spot problems in root canal treatments seen on special X-rays (CBCT) compared to regular X-rays. If the AI finds an issue, a retreatment is done.

NCT06450938Not yet recruiting
AI detecting poor root canal work in dental students

This trial tests if an artificial intelligence tool can spot signs of failed root canal treatments on X-rays. Last-year dental students at the University of Copenhagen are asked to participate to see how the AI compares to their own reading.

NCT07077694Enrolling by invitation
AI study to find missed root canals in treated lower back teeth

This study uses artificial intelligence and 3D dental imaging to check if any root canals were missed during previous root canal treatment on lower back teeth. It may help find hidden problems and guide better treatment.

NCT07787078Not yet recruiting
AI measurement for curved root canals

This study tests whether an artificial intelligence (AI) system can accurately measure the length of curved root canals from dental X-rays, compared to the usual method. If you are having a root canal, this may help your dentist get precise measurements more easily.

NCT07587060Not yet recruiting
AI Analysis of Root Canal Curves in Back Teeth

This study tests a new artificial intelligence tool that analyzes dental scans to measure the shape and curves of root canals in lower back teeth. The AI could help dentists plan root canal treatments more accurately.
