Who can take part

  • You are at least 22 years old
  • You have an open wound (from diabetes, pressure injury, surgery, poor circulation, or other cause) that is large enough and in a location where it can be safely imaged and biopsied
  • Your wound is not in a hard-to-reach spot (like deep between buttocks or between toes) and doesn't have excessive fluid covering it
  • You have not taken any experimental medications in the last month
  • You are able to give written consent and do not have bleeding disorders or take blood thinners that would make biopsy unsafe
