  • Suspected of having leptospirosis (a bacterial infection spread by contaminated water or animal urine)
  • Able to give 40 ml of blood (about 3 tablespoons) for the study
  • Enrolled in a social security or health insurance program
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Not hospitalized or recovering from surgery in the past 7 days
