Who can take part

  • You have been on a mechanical ventilator (breathing machine) for at least 72 hours (3 days)
  • You are alert and cooperative enough to follow simple instructions during the training
  • You do not have a terminal illness or are not receiving only comfort/palliative care
  • You did not have a neurological or neuromuscular condition (like a nerve or muscle disorder) before coming to the ICU
