Who can take part

  • You have been on a ventilator for at least 6 hours a day for 21 days in a row.
  • You are awake and alert, with no intellectual disability, mental illness, or memory problems.
  • You can breathe on your own for short periods to complete the training.
  • Your ventilator settings are at certain low levels (your doctor can check this).
  • You do not have severe brain injury, broken ribs, or unhealed chest/abdomen wounds.
  • You do not have a serious lung infection or unstable heart, lung, or kidney disease.
