Who can take part
- You must be admitted to an ICU with severe pneumonia (caused by virus, bacteria, fungus, or a mix) and serious breathing problems
- You must have moderate to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)—a condition where fluid builds up in the lungs and makes it hard to get oxygen
- Your severe pneumonia and breathing problems started within the last 7 days
- You are not using more than 2 blood-pressure medications (vasopressors) to keep your blood pressure stable
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or currently in another drug trial
