This trial tests whether using balloon dilation or stent placement in brain blood vessels after clot removal helps patients with acute stroke caused by atherosclerotic blockages (buildup of plaque in brain arteries). You may qualify if you had a stroke within 24 hours and received clot removal treatment that either partially cleared the blockage or didn't fully clear it.

  • Age 18 or older
  • Stroke symptoms started within 24 hours before treatment
  • Moderate to severe stroke symptoms (NIHSS score of 6 or higher)
  • No major brain bleeding on initial imaging
  • Able to provide informed consent or have a legal representative do so
  • Blockage in specific brain arteries caused by atherosclerotic plaque (not blood clots from the heart)
