  • Newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) confirmed by recent testing
  • Not eligible for intensive chemotherapy because of age, frailty, or serious health problems
  • Adequate organ function (kidneys, liver, heart working well enough)
  • No prior treatment with similar leukemia drugs or chemotherapy
  • Able to swallow pills and willing to use birth control during the study
