Who can take part

  • Age 18 or older
  • Diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeats that stop on their own within 7 days) or persistent atrial fibrillation (lasting more than 7 days but less than 1 year), with at least one documented episode
  • Your irregular heartbeats have caused noticeable symptoms (like shortness of breath, chest discomfort, or fatigue) in the past 6 months
  • Heart rhythm medications (antiarrhythmic drugs) have either not worked well enough or caused side effects that you couldn't tolerate
  • Your doctor has already planned for you to have catheter ablation (a minimally invasive procedure to treat the irregular heartbeats)
  • Able and willing to attend follow-up visits at 30 days and 90 days after the procedure
