Who can take part

  • Age 40–75 years
  • Successfully had a stent (PCI) placed in a heart artery for chest pain or heart attack
  • Heart is stable without extra medications to keep it pumping or dangerous irregular rhythms
  • Heart's pumping strength (ejection fraction) is at least 35%
  • Able to blow into a spirometer (breathing test device) and walk for 6 minutes
  • No serious lung disease, pacemaker incompatible with electrical stimulation, or recent stroke
