Who can take part
- You need thyroid surgery scheduled (either half or whole thyroid removal) for a thyroid condition
- You must be 18 years old or older
- You cannot have had prior surgery or radiation to your head, neck, or shoulder
- You must have reasonably healthy heart function (no uncontrolled irregular heartbeats or recent heart problems)
- Your kidneys must work well enough (a simple blood test can check this)
