Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You are scheduled to have thyroid surgery that removes part or all of the thyroid gland.
- Your vocal cords move normally, checked with a scope before surgery.
- Your surgeon will use nerve monitoring during the operation.
- You do not have severe nerve damage from other health problems like diabetes or alcohol use.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you are not taking high doses of vitamin B12 or related drugs.
