Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You are scheduled to have thyroid surgery (removing part or all of the thyroid gland).
- Your vocal cords must be working normally before surgery.
- You cannot have hoarseness or a paralyzed vocal cord already.
- You cannot have severe nerve damage from other causes like diabetes or alcoholism.
- You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
