Who can take part

  • You are scheduled to have surgery for your thyroid.
  • Your thyroid tumor is not growing into nearby organs like the esophagus, windpipe, or major blood vessels.
  • You do not need a neck dissection (removal of lymph nodes on the side of your neck).
  • This is not a return of thyroid cancer you've had before.
  • You have no current or past problems with your vocal cords, voice box, or the nerves that control your voice.
