Who can take part

  • You have anterior or peripatellar knee pain (front or around the kneecap) made worse by at least two activities like stairs, prolonged sitting, squatting, or running
  • Your knee pain has lasted at least 3 months
  • You have not had knee surgery or significant knee trauma (such as torn ligaments or meniscus, or broken kneecap)
  • You do not have other knee problems like osteoarthritis, patellar tendon pain, or plica syndrome
  • You do not have metallic implants, pacemakers, or electrical medical devices in your body
  • You have not had a corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid injection into your knee in the past 3 months
