Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 100 years old
- You are having open-heart surgery using a heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass)
- Your surgery is scheduled between January 2021 and March 2026
- You do not have a bleeding disorder like hemophilia or von Willebrand disease
- You do not have essential thrombocythemia (a rare blood clotting disorder)
- You are not having an organ transplant
