Understanding heart failure with preserved pumping function through imaging and blood tests
Part of Heart & circulation, Hormones & metabolism, Kidney & urinary, Women’s health & pregnancy clinical trials.
This study looks at people with a type of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but still doesn't fill properly. Researchers are using ultrasound pictures of the heart (echocardiograms) and blood tests to better understand this condition and find better ways to treat it.

Who can take part
- You must be 18 years or older.
- You must have a confirmed diagnosis of heart failure (with symptoms like shortness of breath or swelling) and a heart pumping function that is considered normal (ejection fraction over 50%).
- Your heart failure must have required hospital care in the past year, or you must be having symptoms now.
- You must have elevated levels of a heart stress hormone (called NT-proBNP) in your blood — this is often measured with a simple blood test.
- You must not have severe kidney disease (for example, needing dialysis).
- You must not have had a heart attack, stroke, or major heart surgery in the last 3 months.

This study looks for people who may have heart failure with preserved pumping function, where the heart is stiff and doesn't fill properly. It aims to better understand and identify this condition to improve care.
This trial studies people who have heart failure symptoms but whose heart pumping strength is largely preserved. It aims to better understand this specific type of heart failure and how best to treat or evaluate it.
This study looks at whether fat around the heart affects a type of heart failure where the heart pumps well but is stiff (HFpEF). You may be able to join if you have this condition, are 18 or older, and can understand English.
This trial uses a special heart MRI to create pressure-volume loops in people with heart failure who have a normal pumping strength (ejection fraction of 50% or higher). It aims to better understand heart function and could help guide future treatments. You may qualify if you have heart failure symptoms and specific heart structure or function changes.
This study looks at the different features and patterns of people with heart failure where the heart’s pumping strength is preserved. It may help doctors better understand your type of heart failure and tailor care.
This study is for people in the Capital Region of Denmark who are at least 50 years old and have certain health conditions that put them at risk for a type of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but doesn't relax properly. The study aims to find and help people before heart failure develops.
