Who can take part
- Age 18–80 years old
- Had an ischemic stroke (blood clot blocking a vessel) within the last 14 days
- Stroke affected only one side of the brain, in the upper part (not brainstem or cerebellum)
- Had minimal disability before the stroke (able to live independently with no more than minor symptoms)
- Have arm or hand weakness from the stroke (scored 6–25 on stroke severity scale, with specific weakness in arm/hand)
- No metal implants in head or heart devices that would block brain stimulation
