- Had an ischemic stroke (caused by a blood clot) within the last 14 days
- Stroke was on one side of the brain, above the brainstem
- Have weakness in your arm or hand (measured by specific stroke tests)
- Were able to walk and care for yourself before the stroke
- No metal implants in your head, pacemaker, or other devices that prevent brain stimulation
- Not pregnant, planning pregnancy soon, or actively enrolled in another trial
