Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- Your doctor has recommended knee replacement surgery for wear-and-tear arthritis (not inflammatory arthritis)
- Your BMI is 35 or higher (a measure based on height and weight)
- You've never had open surgery on this knee before
- You can stand safely for at least 5 minutes without a wheelchair or walking aid
- You speak English and are able to provide written consent
