Brain function after hip replacement surgery in older adults

Who can take part

  • You are between 65 and 80 years old
  • You are having hip replacement surgery
  • You are in generally good health (no severe heart, lung, liver, or kidney problems)
  • You score 25 or higher on a simple memory test (MMSE)
  • You do not have a history of serious brain or nerve disorders (like stroke, Parkinson's, epilepsy, or severe head injury)
  • You can hear and see well enough to complete thinking tests, and you speak the language used in the study
