Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for a pain management procedure that involves finding the epidural space using a loss-of-resistance syringe.
  • Your procedure can be in the neck, upper back, lower back, or tailbone, or it can be a minimally invasive lumbar decompression or spinal cord stimulator trial.
  • You are willing to sign a consent form and follow up with the study team for about 1 week after the procedure.
  • If you take blood thinners, your doctor has confirmed it is safe for you to have the epidural procedure.
  • You do not have any condition that would make the procedure unsafe, like an active infection or bleeding problem.
