Radioembolization for previously treated liver cancer

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

This trial tests a treatment called yttrium-90 carbon microsphere radioembolization for people with liver cancer that has been previously treated. Tiny radioactive beads are delivered directly to the tumor through the blood vessels to destroy cancer cells from inside. This may be an option if your liver cancer has not spread beyond the liver and you can tolerate the procedure.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and weigh more than 66 pounds (30 kg).
  • You have been diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) by imaging or biopsy.
  • You have already received treatments like TACE or HAIC for your liver cancer.
  • Your liver function is relatively good (Child-Pugh score 7 or lower) and you are able to care for yourself (ECOG performance status 0 or 1).
  • Your cancer is only in the liver, not spread to other organs.
  • You have at least one tumor that can be measured on scans.
  • Your blood counts, liver and kidney function, and clotting are adequate.
