  • You are scheduled for a non-emergency surgery
  • You are generally healthy or have only mild health problems (ASA 1 or 2)
  • You do not have serious heart, liver, kidney, or lung disease
  • You do not have a brain tumor, bleeding, or aneurysm
  • You have not had eye, heart, or brain surgery before
  • Your surgery will be done lying on your back (not on your side or stomach)
