Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 60 years old.
  • You have an acute ischemic stroke (a clot in a brain blood vessel) and need urgent treatment to remove it.
  • Your symptoms started or you were last seen well within the last 24 hours.
  • You have had a CT scan of your head and neck blood vessels to confirm the clot and that it can be treated with a catheter procedure.
  • You do not have a severe allergy to CT contrast dye or serious kidney problems (including dialysis, transplant, or taking metformin for diabetes).
  • If you are a woman of childbearing age, you are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
