New vs. traditional lung nodule location method before surgery

This trial compares a new method (longitude-latitude-depth) with the standard CT-guided needle placement to locate small lung nodules for surgery. If you have a small nodule in the outer part of your lung that is less than 2 cm and mostly not solid, this study may help your surgeon find and remove it with less or similar risk.

Who can take part

  • You have a single lung nodule between 0.8 cm and 2 cm (about the size of a pea to a small grape).
  • The nodule is located near the outer surface of your lung (outer third or just under the lining).
  • The nodule is mostly not solid (the solid part is half or less of the whole nodule).
  • You are 18 to 80 years old and expected to live at least another year.
  • You are willing to have a type of keyhole lung surgery (VATS) to remove just that part of the lung.
  • You have not had other lung nodule location procedures before or are in another study at the same time.
