Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have a leg ulcer caused by vein problems (confirmed by a doctor with an ultrasound).
- The ulcer has been present for at least 4 weeks but not longer than 2 years.
- More than half of the wound is covered with non-living tissue (dead skin, slough, or fibrin) after gentle cleaning.
- The wound is between 4 square inches (10 cm²) and about 12.5 square inches (80 cm²).
- You are not allergic to pineapples, papaya, bromelain, papain, latex, bee venom, or olive tree pollen.

This study tests a new gel that helps remove dead tissue from venous leg ulcers. Venous leg ulcers are open sores on the leg that happen when veins don't work well. The gel is applied to the ulcer to clean it and help it heal. You may be able to join if you are an adult with a venous leg ulcer that is not too large and has been there for a few weeks.
This trial tests whether a new cleansing solution (Vashe) is better than a standard saline solution for treating leg ulcers that show signs of infection, like redness or pain. If you have a venous or mixed leg ulcer with these signs, this study may help improve your wound healing.
