A study of dalbavancin for treating heart valve infections
Part of Heart & circulation, Infections clinical trials.
This trial tests if the antibiotic dalbavancin can effectively treat a certain type of serious heart valve infection (endocarditis) caused by specific bacteria. You may be eligible if you have this infection in your left-sided heart valves and are at least 18 years old.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.

- You are 18 years or older.
- You have a confirmed left-sided heart valve infection (mitral or aortic valve) caused by specific bacteria (staphylococci, streptococci, or enterococci).
- The infection is in a natural or prosthetic heart valve, and the bacteria are sensitive to the study drug dalbavancin.
- You have received at least 7 days of effective IV antibiotics for this infection before starting the study.

This trial compares taking antibiotics by mouth versus receiving antibiotics through a vein (outpatient IV) for an infection of the heart valve. It’s designed to see whether the oral option can work as well and safely, especially after initial treatment and surgery if needed.
This trial tests a combination of two antibiotics (ampicillin and ceftriaxone) to treat a heart valve infection caused by Enterococcus faecalis bacteria. It aims to see how well the medicine works and if it's safe.
This trial tests if adding bacteriophages (viruses that kill bacteria) to standard antibiotic treatment can help people with a serious heart valve infection called infective endocarditis. It may offer a new way to fight the infection.
This study checks whether giving a preventive antibiotic (before certain dental procedures) can lower the risk of heart infection in people with prosthetic heart valves or a past heart infection. You may be included if you need an invasive dental procedure and meet timing and history requirements.
This trial tests whether dalbavancin (an antibiotic given as a dose or doses) works as well as standard antibiotics to treat bloodstream infections related to a removed IV catheter caused by Staphylococcus aureus. It may help reduce treatment time and dosing complexity if you qualify.
This trial tests whether a treatment without rifampin works as well as one with rifampin for a type of heart valve infection caused by staph bacteria. It aims to find a simpler and safer option for patients with an infected artificial heart valve.
