Who can take part

  • You are an adult with moyamoya disease, moyamoya syndrome, or a blocked carotid artery in your head.
  • You are scheduled to have an EC-IC bypass surgery (a procedure that connects a scalp artery to a brain artery).
  • You do not have any reason that would prevent a CT scan (like pregnancy or severe kidney disease).
  • You do not have a serious illness that would interfere with follow-up, such as poorly controlled diabetes, active cancer, or severe heart disease.
  • Your surgery is not an emergency that prevents advanced planning.
  • You have no sores, wounds, or unusual shape on your scalp that would stop the XR system from working properly.
