Who can take part
- You are 18 or older.
- You are scheduled for one of these surgeries: hernia repair, removal of a soft tissue lump, thyroid surgery, appendix removal, or a procedure to treat varicose veins in the scrotum or a fluid-filled sac in the testicle.
- You are expected to go home the same day as your surgery.
- You can attend interviews in the hospital and answer phone calls or home visits for 30 days after your surgery.
- You must be able to give informed consent, which may include having the form read aloud or using a fingerprint if allowed.
