Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 30 years old.
  • You have been running or doing endurance training regularly for at least 6 months.
  • You currently run 2 to 3 times per week or more.
  • You can run 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) without stopping.
  • You are willing to follow an 8-week training plan and attend all study visits.
  • You do not have any heart, lung, metabolic, or nerve conditions that make intense exercise unsafe.
  • You do not have a current injury or pain that limits your running.
  • You are not taking medications that affect your heart, metabolism, or brain during exercise.
