Heart function study for high-altitude pulmonary edema survivors

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 59 years old.
  • You have had a medically diagnosed episode of high-altitude pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs at high altitude).
  • You do not have other heart or blood vessel defects.
  • You are physically active and able to do endurance exercise like jogging or cycling.
  • You are not taking heart or lung medications, blood thinners, or aspirin.
  • You have not had anemia, iron deficiency, or iron supplements in the last 60 days, and you are not pregnant.
  • You have not been recently ill (like a cold) in the last 4 weeks.
