Who can take part

  • Adults aged 18 and older (healthy volunteers: 18 to 55)
  • For healthy volunteers: must be generally healthy, with a body mass index between 18.0 and 32.0
  • For patients: must have a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis for at least 3 months
  • No prior major colon surgery for ulcerative colitis
  • No recent changes to certain UC medications (like steroids, biologics, or immunosuppressants)
  • Willing to abstain from alcohol and recreational drugs for a long period, and avoid pregnancy
