  • You have hip or knee arthritis and are scheduled for joint replacement surgery.
  • Your BMI is 40 or higher, or 35 or higher with a related condition like diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea.
  • You are between 18 and 90 years old.
  • You are not currently taking a GLP-1 medication (like Ozempic) and have no medical reason to avoid them.
  • You are willing to quit smoking before surgery if you smoke.
  • You are not taking biologics (like Humira) that weaken the immune system.
