Who can take part
- You have Barrett's esophagus, confirmed by a biopsy showing intestinal metaplasia (a change in the cells lining your esophagus).
- Your biopsy shows low-grade or high-grade dysplasia (pre-cancerous changes) or early-stage cancer (intramucosal adenocarcinoma).
- The Barrett's segment is at least 2 centimeters long (about 0.8 inches).
- You are taking UDCA (a medication) at a dose of 13-15 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, split into two doses.
- You either have not had ablation therapy before, or you had only one session with less than 50% improvement and still have at least 2 centimeters of Barrett's remaining.
- You are not allergic to UDCA, and you do not have certain gallbladder or bile duct conditions (like cholecystitis or obstruction).
