Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 90 years old.
- This is your first admission to the intensive care unit (ICU).
- You have been diagnosed with sepsis (a severe reaction to infection).
- You are expected to survive for at least 24 hours in the ICU.
- You do not have a pre-existing brain disease (such as stroke, brain infection, or brain injury).
- You have not had CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) during this ICU stay.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You can tolerate electrodes placed on your scalp (no major scalp wounds or infections).
