Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are coming to the hospital between 4 and 12 hours after your heart attack symptoms began.
- You are scheduled for a procedure to open a blocked artery (primary PCI).
- A heart X-ray (coronary angiogram) shows your left front artery is completely blocked.
- You have not had a previous heart attack or severe heart failure, and you do not have other major health problems like severe kidney or liver disease.
- You can have an IABP placed safely.
