Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) by a healthcare provider.
  • Your symptoms are at least moderately severe (scoring 18 or more on a depression rating scale).
  • You have been on a stable antidepressant medication for at least 4 weeks before the study.
  • You are right-handed.
  • You do not have a history of seizures, bipolar disorder, or psychotic disorders.
  • You are not at immediate risk of self-harm or suicide.
  • You have not had TMS or ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) before.
  • You do not have any metal objects in your head or neck, or an implanted device like a pacemaker.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
