Who can take part

  • Your child is under 18 years old.
  • Your child is having heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine for more than 3 hours.
  • Your child will receive the blood filter as a preventive measure during surgery.
  • Your child has not taken non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (like ibuprofen) in the last 7 days.
  • Your child is not pregnant (if applicable).
  • You can give informed consent and your child is not in another conflicting study.
